Its a.....
BOY!!!

I am happy to say that everything went very well at my ultrasound. The tech said he didn't see anything that concerned him and our beautiful baby boy is developing just as he should. His heartbeat was 148 BPM and he was measuring perfectly. I can't wait to meet Henry Daniel Newcomb!

6 more days...

Until my level II ultrasound (anatomy scan) at the hospital. During this ultrasound they will look at the baby's heart, kidneys, bladder, brain, spine, and sex organs. I just want to hear them tell me my baby is growing properly and has a strong heartbeat. If the baby cooperates we plan on finding out the sex. I just want next Tuesday to hurry up and be here, I want to get this over with. I have felt so uneasy this entire pregnancy which is my own fault. I've been going to pregnancy message boards online and have heard other woman's horror stories. I need to just relax and think positive. Getting an in depth look at my baby and hearing them tell me everything looks good will take a huge weight off my shoulders.
Other then that I have been starting to get uncomfortable. My left hip always hurts and trying to sleep at night is a chore. Because of my varicose veins walking is uncomfortable and sitting for long periods of times is painful. I have been laying on my left side a lot and that seems to help. I haven't had morning sickness in weeks and my energy is back which would be great if I wasn't in so much discomfort. I am still going to enjoy my second trimester because I know once the third trimester hits and I am huge and it is mid summer I'll be miserable.
I have decided that I am going to give cloth diapers a try. I was shocked at my mom's reaction. I thought she would tell me I was crazy but instead she agreed with me that I would probably save a bit of money and she even offered to buy enough to get started which I am so grateful for. My mother in law ordered the dresser for the baby's room and it should be in by the end of this week. It matches the crib and is from the same collection that Wyatt's dresser is from. Everything is starting to become more real.
I am planning on nursing this baby as well. I nursed Wyatt but mostly pumped and put the breast milk into a bottle and I used some formula as well. I stopped nursing Wyatt at 6 months. I feel like I learned a lot from my breastfeeding experience with Wyatt and I want to take that experience and be more committed this time around.
It is so hard to believe I am going to be 19 weeks next Monday, almost halfway to my due date. Time is going by so fast and before I know it my baby will be here. I hope the next 6 days goes by fast. I am looking forward to logging online and telling all about my ultrasound.

Week 16 belly picture!

Week 16 OB checkup

Saw my OB yesterday and everything is going great. I have gained a total of 8 pounds. I thought that was a lot but my doctor said that was perfect and I looked great. My blood pressure was 117/70. I didn't have an ultrasound this visit but we got to hear the baby's heartbeat on the doppler. Heartbeat was nice and strong at 150 bpm. It still amazes me everytime I hear it. I told my doctor that I have been having some pains on the upper part of my thighs, bottom area, and that it felt like I was kicked in the crotch. She wanted to do an exam just to make sure everything was okay. Turns out I have varicose veins and a hemorrhoid which is why walking has been painful. She told me this was just a normal part of pregnancy but it wasn't something I wanted to hear. She checked my cervix because I have been having some cramps and she said it was nice and closed. After my appointment I headed over to the hospital for my Alpha-fetoprotein blood test. The test assess probabilities of potential genetic disorders. I also scheduled my anatomy scan (ultrasound) for the 26th of this month. During the scan they should (crossing my fingers) be able to tell us the sex of the baby. Matt thinks it is a girl, I am thinking boy. I guess we will have to wait and see who is right!

Baby at 13 weeks 1 day!
Heartbeat 150 BPM

Had another appointment with my OB yesterday. Everything looks great. I've even gained a couple pounds and the doctor was happy about that. I can't say I was to excited LOL. She told me since I started to pregnancy at a healthy weight she wants to see me put on around 25 pounds. It was a quick and easy appointment. They checked my blood pressure which was 108/60 which is good for me! Then the doctor did an ultrasound and my little baby was moving around so much that is was hard to get a good picture! I can not even put it into words how cool it was to watch my baby kick, roll around, and wave it's tiny little arms. Between 18 and 20 weeks I'll have my screening ultrasound done at the hospital and we should be able to find out the sex. I am super excited to find out but I don't care either way. If it is a boy I'll be so happy to dig out Wyatt's baby clothes. He has so many cute outfits I saved that he only wore once or twice. Boys are a blast and I love the idea of having a house full of boys. But if it is a girl I'll get to buy lots of pink and do lots of girly stuff. I will be so happy no matter what, I just want my baby to be healthy. My next appoinment will be in 3 weeks and I'll have my AFP bloodwork done. Then we'll go back to visitng the OB every 4 weeks until later on in my pregnancy.

12 weeks 3 days pregnant

As of Monday I will officially be in my second trimester : )
I have been feeling A LOT better. The morning sickness is almost completely gone. I still have those moments where I feel like I might be sick though. My energy is coming back and I feel great if I get a good nights sleep. But the past two nights I haven't slept well at all. I am trying really hard to sleep on my sides but I usually wake up with a sore back. So I spend the majority of the night tossing and turning. I know that isn't going to get better as I get bigger. Just one of the many joys of pregnancy! Next Tuesday I have another OBGYN appt and I am super excited. I always look forward to those appointments because all my thoughts are on nothing but my baby and that makes me happy.

Went to my doctors yesterday

Yesterday I saw my OBGYN and had another ultrasound. My doctor said the baby looks good and after taking measurements said I was 10 weeks and 1 day which gives me a due date of 9-19-11. That is exactly the same as if they based my due date off the first day of my last period! Looks like my baby is due on my 2 year wedding anniversary LOL. The baby looked great and we got to see and HEAR the heartbeat. The heartbeat was 160! The whole experience was amazing and gave me peace of mind. I feel like a brand new person knowing that my baby is doing so well. Wyatt got to see his brother or sister and as soon as he saw the baby on the screen he said "There is a baby in there!! I told you".

It was so cute! I got on the scale and haven't gained a single pound either which I'm fine with. Although I am wearing mostly maternity pants and my boobs feel huge and I am falling out of my bra. Funny how much different the second pregnancy is. I feel very pregnant with all the symptoms I have been having. My doctor also got my blood work back and everything look good. Even my blood sugar was perfect! My iron still looked good. The appointment was exactly what I hoped for.

10 weeks pregnant

Around 7 weeks my morning sickness started to get pretty intense. I expected it since I was throwing up for 6-7 weeks straight with my first pregnancy. Then around 9 weeks it got really bad. My doctor put me on Unisom at night and B6 25mg 3x a day which helped a lot! I was down about 4-6 pounds from my pre-pregnancy weight but got on the scale yesterday and had gained my weight back. So I am finally back at the weight I was before I got pregnant. I'm sure it is only a matter of time before I start packing on more pounds! Even though I haven't technically gained a pound since the start of this pregnancy I have gained a belly! None of my jeans fit me anymore. I am wearing leggings, sweatpants, or maternity pants. I guess it is true what they say - you start to show sooner with the second pregnancy.
I had my iron checked and it was above normal levels! That was great news since I was very anemic with my first pregnancy. Last week I had some bloodwork done at which time they checked my blood sugar. I will get those results tomorrow at my OB appt. I will hopefully get another ultrasound to confirm my due date. So here I am 10 weeks in, 30 to go....I am hoping it goes by fast but at the same time I am glad I have time to get things in order. I know it is still early but I've been thinking  about everything baby. Carseats, strollers, breastfeeding, sleepless nights, wondering about the sex of the baby....
Matt and I have decided on baby names for a boy or a girl. I have told family and a couple friends but I am not going to reveal thosse names until we find out the sex for sure. Wyatt is still convinced that there is no baby in my belly and that our baby is coming from Walmart LOL.
