Went in for my 25 week appointment with my OB yesterday. I've gained a total of 25 pounds, yikes LOL! My doctor wasn't concerned though. My blood pressure was 117/70, no protein or sugar in my urine, and the doctor said I looked great. At first I was worried about the weight gain, but after losing 70 pounds last year I know I can lose the baby weight. I had an ultrasound at the doctors and my little boy looks perfect. The doctor said Henry still has his boy parts. I wasn't doubting the tech but it is always nice to hear another person see the same parts. Henry is transverse right now but the doctor said they don't worry about the position of the baby until the month before the due date. It was very cool watching him wiggle around and I always love hearing his heartbeat!
After my doctors appt I went to the hospital for my 1 hour glucose tolerance test. During the hour that I have wait I went with a nurse to the birthing unit. We did some paperwork, I met with the anesthesiologist and talked about options for pain management and talked about what would happen in the event I need a c-section. I am hoping to not take pain meds or need a c-section but it is always important to be informed. I also turned in my birth plan and went over my health history. I'm officially in the system at Bridgton Hospital! I also have some paperwork I can fill out here at home that way I won't have to worry about all of that crap while I am in the hospital and in labor.
After the birthing unit I went to the lab to have my blood drawn. Then it was time to go home and wait for the results....
I was nervous because I needed insulin with my first pregnancy. My 1 hour glucose test results with my first pregnancy were 200 which is very high. So high that I was able to skip the 3 hour glucose test. I really was hoping to not have to deal with diabetes with this pregnancy
A few hours later my phone rang and it was the doctor calling me personally....
She wanted to be the one to deliver the good news, I passed my glucose test. My sugar was 125 which is good!! I don't even have words for how happy that makes me. She did tell me that I am anemic though so I am starting on additional iron. She gave me some ideas for which foods are good sources of iron. Overall it was a very good day.
My next appointment is in 3 weeks, I'll be 28 weeks pregnant. Then I start going every 2 weeks until I deliver! I can't believe how fast this pregnancy is going. Before I know it I'll be holding my little boy :)
