Last Thursday Matt, Wyatt, and I went to my first OB appointment at Bridgton Ob/Gyn. It was a long appointment. They asked a lot of questions, I had a pelvic exam, had to pee in a cup, I had lots of questions as well, and my doctor did a transvaginal ultrasound. She warned me ahead of time that I was still early (6w3d) so we might not see much on the ultrasound. We did get to see our little bean though. It was so small! So small we barely saw it, but there is was and we could see the little heart flickering. I was so early we were unable to hear the heartbeat but I was happy enough just to see it. I go back on Feb 22nd for my next checkup and for another ultrasound. My doctor said I was to early to get good enough measurements and was not comfortable confirming my due date.
Today I am 7 weeks along according to my LMP. I'm confident that my due date won't change much even after my doctor gets better measurements. But we'll see. Nonetheless I have about 33 weeks to go. Wow, that seems like a long time. I really hope it goes by quick. Right about now I'd just be happy for Spring to be here because I'm fed up with this cold weather and all the snow we've been getting. I am so happy that I won't be delivering when it is cold outside. September is a good month. Not to hot and not to cold!

Almost 6 weeks along!
Tomorrow I will officially be 6 weeks pregnant. I am happy to say I am no longer feeling nauseous. I think what I was feeling last week was a stomach bug. When I was pregnant with Wyatt I didn't start having crazy morning sickness until I was 6-7 weeks along and it lasted until my second trimester. I am curious to see if I get as sick as I did with my first pregnancy. With Wyatt I was throwing up almost everything I ate and I was totally exhausted by the 7th week. Right now I am feeling really good. I can only hope that continues! One new pregnancy symptom showed itself the other day...heartburn! It only came and went a couple times, nothing that made me feel like I needed to take something. I had so much heartburn in my first pregnancy and I overdid it on the tums. I had so much calcium carb (tums) in my first pregnancy that a month after I delivered I had a 6mm kidney stone. So I'll be avoiding tums this time around if I can help it.
Right now I am feeling a big anxious about my OB appointment this week. It is scheduled for Thursday and we are supposed to be getting a big snow storm. I will be really bummed if I have to make it for a later date. I have been so excited about that first appointment and I want to see my baby on ultrasound for piece of mind. I guess I'll just have to wait and see what happens this week.
According to babycenter.com this is how my baby is developing this week!
"Eyes are becoming more defined with the lenses appearing now. The brain continues to become more detailed and complex. Other organs taking shape include the kidneys and liver. The hands and feet have webbed structures that will become the fingers and toes eventually. The intestines are starting to grow, however they are not located inside the baby yet, but rather are growing inside the umbilical cord at this point. Your baby is now ½ inch long!"

5 weeks pregnant today
According to the first day of my last cycle I am officially 5 weeks pregnant today. Although I am still wondering if my due date will change after I have my first prenatal appointment.
I am feeling pretty good except for a few pregnancy symptoms. Breast tenderness is hands down the worst. I am feeling a little more tired then usual but nothing to write home about, no morning sickness but I am feeling bloated the past few days.
I got on the scale yesterday morning and the past 2 weeks I've lost just a little over 2 pounds. I am not concerned because I have been going out of my way to eat healthy, drink plenty of water, and I always make sure to take my prenatal vitamin.
Last night I looked at the Chinese Gender Chart and it said I am having a girl, but then again it also said Wyatt was supposed to be a girl. Only time will tell. Either way I don't care, I just want a healthy baby.

Baby #2 is on the way!
Today is Saturday January 15, 2010 and based on the first day of my last period I will be 5 weeks pregnant on Monday. My first ultrasound is on the 27th, so of course that due date could change.
A big part of me is still in shock. This pregnancy was planned but I still can't believe it happened so fast. In November I went for a preconception appointment at my ob/gyn. I also toured the birthing unit and started taking prenatal vitamins. We decided to start trying in November but we decided late in the month so I think the only reason we didn't get pregnant then was because we already missed out on the days I was ovulating. We tried again in December and boom I got pregnant.
On Sunday the 9th my period was 1 day late (based on a cycle that normally runs 24-27 days) and I was having some breast tenderness. I also had a dream the night before that I took a pregnancy test and it was positive, so I really felt as though I might be pregnant. I took a test that day and it was negative. My heart sank a little because I really believed I was pregnant.
Then on Wednesday the 12th I still had not gotten my period. That morning the first thing I did when I woke up was take a pregnancy test. I waited 3 long minutes for the results before I even dared enter the bathroom. And when I did look it was positive!!
So here I am 4 weeks and 5 days pregnant and I'm feeling pretty good except the breast tenderness has gotten pretty intense. This is my second pregnancy but a symptom that is new to me. I never had to deal with breast tenderness when I was pregnant with my son. I really hope it stops soon. Also hoping I don't get morning sickness like I did with my first pregnancy.
Words can't express how happy I am about this pregnancy. A part of me is overwhelmed because I know it will be hard with two children. My son will almost be 4 when the baby is born. The other part of me knows how wonderful being a mom is and doesn't care how hard it will be. The day my son was born there was so much love that entered my world and now that love is going to be multiplied by two. I don't think life gets any better then this!
